The future of wireless with pCell technology

The future of wireless with pCell technology

The new innovative technology called  "pCell", which has been developed by Artemis, is considered a great mile-stone achievement in the history of wireless communication. This technology designs a multiuser wireless system that allows cooperation between distant-located transceivers to achieve extremely large multiplexing gain and spectral efficiency where each user can get his own personal cell and utilize the full spectrum delivered by the service provider without affecting other users' performance.

Basically, by forming and establishing individual spaces of coherent signal with high signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) around the antenna of each user, pCell generates independent spatial links to multiple users, thus delivering over an order of magnitude increase in the spectral efficiency with respect to current technologies available in the market.

The inventors introduced an analytical framework in their recently published technical paper based on a geometrical channel model to describe the volumes of coherent signal. Then, they reviewed hardware and software architecture of pCell as implemented within the LTE protocol. Finally the authors demonstrated high downlink and uplink spectral efficiency achieved with pCell in practical propagation conditions.

The video given below gives comprehensive description of the technical details behind this ground-breaking technology that is going to shape the future of wireless drastically.      ⇩⇩⇩

The relation between modulation and waveform in communication systems

In recent research efforts related to 5G and beyond radio access technologies, there has been  many contributions in the development of new innovative methods and schemes related to the following two research directions at the physical layer level. 1) Advanced waveform designs: The purpose here is to create new improved waveforms (other than the conventional OFDM waveform) to enhance the system performance metrics in terms of PAPR, OOBE, ACI, INI, synchronicity, complexity,  spectral efficiency, reliability, and robusetness to ICI, Doppler, and phase noise, etc. Examples of waveforms in this domain include GFDM, FBMC, DFT-s-OFDM, ZT-DFT-s-OFDM, W-OFDM, F-OFDM, edge filtered OFDM, OTFS, OCDM, etc.  2) New modulation techniques: The goal here is to come up with novel modulation schemes (other than the conventional M-ary QAM/PSK modulation schemes) to improve the system performance metrics in terms of spectral efficiency, energy efficiency and reliability.  Examples of t
